Ryan was awesome with our 1.2 yr adopted puppy. Our dog was a foster dog who had anxiety, fear of outsiders and hated the leash. By then end of our 6 weeks he walked by our side on our walks, sat/laid down when requested and allowed friends/family outside his circle to pet him. Additionally, Ryan was very flexible with our schedule which we very much appreciated. We’re so happy with the outcome…thanks so much Ryan!
Ryan was great, and within minutes I could tell a difference in my dog’s behavior! This was also a great experience for me and my wife because it was also training us to be the ‘alphas’ in the family.
Wish I had hired Ryan years ago Fantastic, quick results. My Golden has never behaved better! Thoroughly satisfied!
The service was amazing! Ryan came out the same day I contacted him. I learned so much with the 90 minutes I worked with him. He was able to answer almost every question I had (I am a new dog owner, so I had a lot!). I would highly recommend Ruff House!
Ryan was very helpful and knowledgeable when working with us and our 8 year old dog. We originally reached out because of our dog’s barking and Ryan helped us develop communication with our pup to get him to follow our lead instead of us following his. The response from our dog was immediate and has continued since our session with Ryan!
Working with Ryan was fantastic from start to finish! He made the booking process extremely easy, and we had our first lesson soon after reaching out. Ryan quickly assessed our situation, and provided guidance and instruction that resulted in an immediate improvement in our dog’s behavior and our dog-parenting skills! We appreciated Ryan’s level-headed and real world approach to dog training, and think he set us on the right course for a long-lasting and awesome relationship with our pup!
I HIGHLY recommend Ryan from Ruff House Dog Training! To say that he is great at what he does is an underestimate! I must say that I was hesitant at first as our dog has been really aggressive. Ryan assured me not to worry and that he could handle himself. After 10 minutes with Bruno, Ryan had him under control. He was super informative and knew exactly what he was talking about. In only ONE session, Bruno is a completely different dog. We have a lot of work to go with him, but the foundation has been laid and it is now up to us to continue to improve our role as the Alpha. Thank you so much, Ryan! Gone are the days of living in fear and hello to tomorrow!
My husband and I adopted a rescue dog, Jimmy, and within a week realized that he had resource guarding issue. Unfortunately that resource was my husband and Jimmy would not let me near my husband without showing teeth and growling. We hired Ryan and he came out same day all the way to DC.
Ryan was an absolute god send. My dog did not greet him warmly but within 90 minutes was eating out of the palm of his hand both literally and figuratively. Ryan gave us all the tools we need to help our dog concur his fears and feel more comfortable in the home and on walks. We feel more comfortable too!
Ryan is very professional and personable. I recommend him highly!
I cannot say enough about Ryan! We started looking for a dog trainer after realizing something needed to change when it came to taking our 4-year-old dog, Sandy, on walks. She was very defensive and my husband and I could not redirect her focus once she started barking at a person or another dog making walks VERY stressful. When Ryan said an hour and a half is all he needed to address and fix the problem, I was skeptical with what we experienced with Sandy, but with such excellent reviews, we went ahead and booked a weekend appointment shortly after finding Ruff House. Ryan showed up, and within 30 minutes, Sandy was no longer lashing out at other dogs or people passing by! Ryan assesses your situation and adjusts for that rather than trying to change everything you and your dog do on a daily basis. We are so excited with the results Ryan was able to instill in us and are thankful for such a wonderful experience!!!
Extremely pleased with Ryan and his knowledge of all things pup. He was very honest with us about our expectations (since we contacted him when our pup was 8 weeks old), and suggested splitting the sessions into two parts – 3 sessions between 10-12 weeks, and 3 sessions for once he’s reached 5 months. We’ve had such great results and are super excited to continue working on the things that Ryan showed us. We’ll also be reaching out once Gideon gets a little bit older and we’re interested in really honing in on certain aspects of his training. Thank you Ryan!!!
We were struggling with a rescue dog that was deathly afraid of my husband and started growling and barking at him every time he walked by. 3 days after following Ryan’s coaching/advice from his in home consult, the dog is now willingly playing, going on walks and seeking my husband’s affection. Thank you so much Ryan!!! She is a really good dog and I’m so glad that it looks like we will be able to keep her now 🙂
Our 135 pound Saint Bernard was terrible on a leash and doing a weird puppy nipping at 2+ years. We tried the Freedom Harness, Gentle Leader, but nothing worked. Ryan came to our house tonight and with a new collar, and now our dog is walking normally, not lunging at people, and my fiancé and I both feel better. After Ryan left, we both agreed that we should have hired him as soon as we adopted our dog as we would have been happier and not have spent money on “cures” that have not worked. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and informative and I am so happy I found him on Thumbtack and had him come to our house. Hire Ryan and get back in charge of your dog.
We’ve struggled walking our dog as she pulls aggressively on walks and and it took only an hour or even less to correct the problem. He spent a lot of time with us teaching us how to properly interact with our dog and the importance of being in charge of your dog (not vice versa). We look forward to our daily walks and our dog truly enjoys it as well. Appreciate that Ryan communicates well, just truly professional.
I had the pleasure of working with Ryan. I was a little apprehensive at first because I didn’t know what to expect but he was recommended to me by a friend who had worked with him in the past. I adopted a senior boxer a year ago who was reactive toward strange men and anyone walking around my apartment. Ryan was calm and confident when meeting and working with my dog. He knew what he was doing and good at spotting my dog’s behaviors and how to address them. He taught me how I needed to be approaching and working with my dog from being in the apartment, going on walks, and encountering strangers on our walks. He showed me how to be a better leader and that I needed to show that I was in charge. There were times that I was nervous and anxious but Ryan encouraged me and gave me the confidence and skills to address and correct my dog’s behavior. Once our sessions were done Ryan would check in on us and see how things were going and how my dog was doing. I felt comfortable to ask any questions and reach out to him at any time. I would definitely recommend Ryan and his ability to understand and correct behavior.
This guy Ryan really knows what he is doing. We have learned so much from him about how to deal with our bulldog. Training has become a fun activity to do with our dog rather then a fruitless experience. The difference is amazing. If you are questioning whether or it’s worth it, IT IS!
Ryan made short work of my Rottweiler training. He shows up on time, always there to help even throughout the week he is just a call or a text away and is a great trainer!
This guy is better than Caesar! In one hour, my dog has transformed. I was having problems with my dog not listening and aggression towards other dog in the house, and by the time he left, I didn’t recognize my dog. His techniques are workable and friendly and really easy to do. I can’t wait to enroll in his advanced class. Ryan Morris/Ruff House Dog training is a true asset to dog lovers. Thank you so much!
Ryan is an excellent trainer. From the time he began working with our puppy she responded positively and became very obedient and eager to learn. He also instructed us on how to train her. We would highly recommend him to any dog owner.
We have two Australian cattle dog puppies that want to play and not listen. Ryan is changing that. I can take them for a walk at the same time and they are well behaved. They sit, lay down and are coming when called and we have only had 3 lessons! I can hardly wait to see what they are like at the end of the training. Best money ever spent! Ryan is awesome!
We had a great experience with Ryan for our dog Charlie. We had already been through petco training class which was useless and one other private trainer whos methods did not work for Charlie. Charlie listened when Charlie felt like it. After training with Ryan Charlie listens all the time now. He has improved in so many things such as walking and reacting on the leash and understanding what yes and no means. The best part is our 11 year old dog who has never been trained is now following by Charlies example. Also I contacted Ryan many times throughout Charlies training and he always got back to me by either text or phone calls to answer any questions I had. Thank you Ryan for all of your help it was great working with you!!!
I am so thankful we found Ryan! Our Amelia was a rescue, with a terrible start in life. She is a lover, but desperately afraid of my husband. After just an hour and a half, Ryan had her comfortable enough to take treats from my husband, walk on the leash with him, and sit near him without her normal anxious behaviors. We are continuing to work with her, following Ryan’s suggestions, and are continuing to see improvements. Thank you, Ryan, for helping us and Amelia. She is now truly a part of our family.
Ryan is a very down-to-earth fun and hands on trainer from the very first session we could not believe the changes in our dog we had a rowdy six month old German Shepherd that was always nipping us never listening and getting into everything after the training sessions with Ryan he has done a 360 turn around Ryan stays with you teachers you and give you homework I definitely enjoy his training techniques and his company. I would highly suggest him to anybody who is considering training.
We have really enjoyed our sessions with Ryan. He has been so helpful in guiding us to have control of our 10 month old lab / shepard puppy. He is teaching 3 students – me, my spouse and our child. He tailors each session to how we are progressing.
Finished up our 4th session. The difference in our puppy is amazing. Taking walks without her Sounding like she’s choking all the time and my arm exhausted from being pulled is so enjoyable and relaxing. Ryan is extremely patient with us. Went for a walk in Great Falls Park with non pet owner friends and they actually texted me back to comment on how well mannered Olive was on the walk! Can’t wait for our next sessions. Every session has been informative and useful in our everyday life with our girl.
I have a rescue puppy, and she’s what we think a shepherd/hound mix. She’s wonderful, extremely smart, and very affectionate. But, she’s a puppy, and I’m hopelessly in love with her, so a lot of her negative behavior remains unfixed. She jumps, she begs for food, she pulls on the leash, she is very possessive of me to the point of aggression, and a whole host of other issues. So finally I reached out for a trainer, and from the start Ryan was my choice. Very polite and personable while organizing the training dates, and very informative during our lesson. It wasn’t just training the puppy, it was training me as well, which I think is something everyone can benefit from. The same day after training, my friends all noticed a change in my dog and her responsiveness to my commands. She’s still a work in progress, but she improves every day with what Ryan taught us. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a qualified and effective trainer!
Ryan was great! We loved the opportunity to have Ryan come to our home and work with us. It was much easier to get feedback and work with our dog on the issues we deal with where they actually happen. He answered all of our questions and even provided some additional tips on what he noticed that we were unaware of. It’s been almost a week since we’ve worked with Ryan and our dog’s leash behavior has significantly improved. We don’t even use a harness anymore!
Ryan is a very competent dog trainer. His calm demeanor and innovative style help the sessions be engaging and very useful. When you present him with an issue or concern he immediately addresses it. For example our son described how he wanted to control his interactions with our 7 month old big, energetic lab puppy when he was sitting on the floor with her. Ryan immediately sat on the floor and showed us what he would do.
He is firm, consistent, playful and kind with the dogs he is training he utilizes humor with the people he is training. He is a very good listener. I have been a dog owner( this is my 5th dog) for over 41 years. I know dogs. But I was challenged by the behaviors of our new puppy. He built on things I already knew but also added insight and different approaches that we have found very helpful. I would highly recommend him and am available as a reference.
For months we had been unable to find a trainer who could help after our male rescue dog decided our other male was not welcome in the family room and started attacking him when he tried to come in. Ryan showed up and worked a miracle. He and I took a walk with our three dogs, came back, and after maybe seven minutes, we were all relaxing in the family room!! The two humans and dogs all needed some guidance on setting boundaries and who’s in charge. We’ll be working further with Ryan. He’s amazing!!
